Medieval

(4) I created an entire ethnicity/culture called the Endori. They are a nomadic people (think India meets Romania) who live off the land, trade their goods at small cities and towns and live a very simple life. They are hounded by the Jasani (think Norse meets Arabic) who enslave them and sell them at market. Asilaria lost her family when she was in her tweens, off in the woods when the camp was ravaged. She returned to find utter destruction and all the lives she couldn't save. She learned to be a warrior and a healer so that when she finds the Jasani again, she will make them pay in blood. The basic storyline starts off with her captured by the Jasani after she had raided and tormented their camps for years, freeing the Endori and costing them limitless money. He is a Jasani who has so moral issues with what his people are doing. He has been quietly freeing Endori from his camp as well and it has been attributed to her. He knows who she is and after she had been tortured nearly to death and left in a cell, he frees her, only to realize she can not escape on her how, so he takes her with him.

She wakes, knowing only that he has been caring for her, only to realize he is a Jasani and hated. But she can not do anything or go anywhere without him and the Jasani are chasing them. They stick together until they end up in a village where a sickness has struck. She feels she must help the villages despite their precarious situation and he agrees. There they find some of the Endori he has previous freed, making her reassess him. And we go from there.

Prince and the Pauper Concept

Twin brother born to the King and Queen. A curse is laid upon the children and the King/Queen, promising the boys will destroy one another and the land with it. The younger boy, birthmark on him somewhere, is taken away to try and prevent this tragedy. He is spirited away to a village and raised as a poor peasant while the older boy is raised a Prince. The King and Queen tell everyone the younger child died just after birth.

Fast forward, the Prince is a horrible man, had brought the country to famine, plague is breaking out, his kingdom is crumbling and he lives in excess. He may or may not have murdered his father and is set to become King. He and his mother becomes ill with the plague.

A healer of high renown (my character) has been passing through the land, curing as many of the people as she is able (herbal and surgical, not magical). The Prince has her taken from the village she is working at brought to the Palace where he demands she treat him first and his mother second (though his mother needs the treatment more urgently.)

After treating the Prince, she treats the mother (who tells her secret about the younger twin and begs her to find him and bring him to the palace. She give the healer her signet ring and a letter she has written confessing everything) but the Queen dies.

Outraged that the healer couldn't save his mother, the Prince punishes the Healer in whatever fashion he desires. She eventually escapes and runs as far from the Prince as she can get, to a distant village where the plague is destroying the land. She meets a simple peasant there who is thus far unaffected by the plague. He helps her (feeds her / gives her a safe place to sleep and helps her tend and untended injuries.) She starts treating / healing the people of the village and he assists, learning at her side how to help. Between the two of them, they treat as many of the villagers as they can, but the young man's father died.

She asks him to travel with her, seeing he has the gift of healing. After a few villages, he gets sick with the plague. She treats him, only to discover he is the boy with the birthmark. She explains what has happened and then he has to decide what he wants to do. Be a simple healer or save his Kingdom.
